Lesson Learned: Overlooking The Tried And True

Marketing Training
Today I have many things I would like to blog about. Great ideas that came from some really good sources. But instead I am going to discuss a Lesson Learned that I nearly made me miss the boat. The thing that gets me the most though, is the fact that what I needed to do was right there, staring me in the face. Just like the monkey here and I was so focused on trying to get "the water" I almost missed what I needed to do. I have recently decided to get in touch with my downline members, just to check up and see how they were doing. So I sent out an e-mail, and, in one case where no response was received facebook direct connect and skype request for a time that calling would be good for them.

The problem came in that this one person never responded and after several attempts I "assumed" she was no longer interested and just stopped trying. Till one day a few weeks later I got a frantic e-mail. Just got your message, it was all in my spam, canceled it all cause you weren't around PLEASE HELP!!! So I finally picked up the phone and did the one thing I should have done from the beginning. Can you say Lesson Learned? In the end all was saved, it was much time spent undoing the damage I did by Overlooking The Tried and True.

Lesson Learned
Yes, technology is great. Yes, many can and do communicate quite effectively through many mediums of online contact. BUT there is nothing like the Tried and True, Lesson Learned about the good ole' fashion phone call.

Great blog and so true. I had a similar experience a while ago and it taught me too not give up anymore on the person in my downline that wont call back. Now I keep calling intermittently until I have that person on the line. Sometimes why the person wont call back could be as simple as them not having the time and when they remember it is way too late in the night to call back.

A sponsor once told me... "I keep calling until I get a solid No". It's so true!

Thanks!
Donna

This is so true. Often times we rely too much on modern technology and as a result miss out on some great opportunities. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for reminding us that the phone is our friend.

Sometimes I think I'm being a pest by calling repeatedly, but maybe not....

Hey Kat,

Great post! Steven Covey in his 7-habits book encouraged us to seek to understand the other person first.

Most times we just give up on people instead of simply taking an effort to understand what's happening behind the scenes.

Happened to me a couple of times and it was so infuriating.

Thanks for sharing, Kat!

Yea!!! I finally figured out how to respond to those that comment on my blog.
First I want to say Thank you to all of you for your comments. It sure makes a difference to know that others are reading it and their opinions and thoughts about what I write.

Tosin: I will definitely have to check out that book.
Ruth: I felt the same way that is why I almost missed my chance.
Rachale: That is so true! Sometimes we need to put all the "Fun" stuff aside and use the tried and true.
Donna: That is hard for me cause I was raised with you don't just "show up" with out an invite.
Gabriele: I can relate to that one, it is really easy for us to base assumptions on what we see and not think about the other things that could get in the way.
Vicky: Thanks for supporting me my friend.

God Bless

See you all at the Top!!!

Kat

The same thing has happened to me before. If I don't hear back from someone after 2 days with email I always make a quick phone call.

Hi Jim
Thanks for the comment. I hear people say all the time just pick up the phone and call. Guess I tend to be too concerned with interfering with something. It is a step in the process I still have to work on for sure.
