Tempered heart
By Kendra Lovette Brooks
All around me is adversity
The sea is raging
The wind is roaring
It feels like the battle, I am losing
Not too long ago
On the shore of life I was standing
Wanting to be His light to the world
Then He told me “Go”
So with shaky faith
I stepped into the boat
Scared of the day
Not sure where I would go
As I sail into the wind
Uncertainly, my journey begins
I am afraid but I will trust You with my life
You are my strength and source of life
I paddle harder and harder
Tasting the sea salt
Fighting these life matters
Trying to keep my heart tempered
Tempered heart

Fighting these life matters
Trying to keep my heart tempered
I have been called a child of God
A member of the Kingdom
He gives me strength to carry on forever
But keeps my heart flexible and tempered
Like the Samurai sword
A devoted child of God is strong
Sturdy, flexible and sharp
With a beautiful heart
Able to withstand the fiercest storm
So long as I obey His Word
I haven’t been a believer for long
But already my soul is full of song
Life is tough and hard
It’s given me a bruised heart
But because of Him, it is tempered
Strong yet flexible like the Samurai sword
In the twelve years since you gave your life to God and wrote this poem you have touched the lives of many and even now are still touching lives with Your song from God. Although we all will miss you dearly I know when you came home to be with Jesus He said "Well done, my good and faithful servant".... Your Mission Completed on 6-16-2012 R.I.P.
