Have you ever heard "why do you do that" when you are doing something that you are not being paid for? Or had someone tell you to "look out for number one?" Did you know that in marketing or life this line of thinking will not get you anywhere?

To be a good leader you have to be a great servant. Being willing to help others, even when it doesn't profit you, is the key to getting ahead. People will remember what you did for them and come back to you again and again. When you are doing something important or in business they will often participate and purchase from you because they feel they know you and can trust you. I don't help others to get ahead, I do it because its just the right thing to do. If I know the answer I would want to share it and make someone else smile and if I don't know it I go in search of  the answer or someone that can answer it, that way I can learn as well.

The following video was done by an online friend that also provides help and a great free service to others...He is the creator of The Social Network Toolbar.com A great tool for online marketers, with everything a marketer needs right at their fingertips. He also does Bonus Tips by David Dettmann Short videos on a variety of topics that all deal with social media marketing.
Thanks David for your awesome video about Me and for all you do to help others be successful too!

I Finished My Finals!!!

Please forgive my absence I was neck high in final projects... It is sad to see these classes end because I truly did enjoy them both: Public Speaking for the Professional was so much more fun than I thought it would be and Communication and Conflict was certainly a educational class. I learned a lot about the true art of communicating in conflict.
But I must say I am glad to be moving forward too.
What's in store for next term?
Tools for the Digital Age and
Arts and Humanities: 2oth Century and beyond
and I got the best news recently too: After the completed the review of my degree plan (at my request) They say I actually only have 5 Terms left!!! I will be done in August 2012!
Well, I am off for some much needed rest and I shall return in force over the next few weeks.

Have a Supertastic Weekend!!!

God Bless
Kat

My Blog on Marketing 3: Building Relationships

Picture
Marketing Skills
In My Blog on Marketing 2 I talked about how important it is to know your "why" about being in business for yourself. Knowing your "why" will keep you moving on those times that business is slow, when you've been up all night with the baby or when you just need motivation. Next to knowing your "why" the next most important Marketing Skill in a successful Marketing plan is: Building Relationships.
When you put the relationship between you and the customer first, the customer feels important, they think they are getting quality products or services because they know you and your business gains a lifelong, loyal customer who will tell others about you. You can't force this through, building relationships in marketing takes time.

Picture
Marketing Skills
This Marketing Skills key is designed to get the customer to come to you and ask you for your information. Let them see that you care about what matters to them, that you have the solution to whatever it is they need, and you are a person that gives value to their life regardless of whether you make money or not. Once you have done this they will seek you out and ask you what you have to offer and they will feel good about themselves when they do business with you because they will feel they are supporting the good guy and getting what they want at the same time.

Technology today makes a great way to reach out to your Marketing prospect or customer and give them value that will build the bridge to future relationships with them. Some of the methods you can use are: Posting quotes in social media sites and on your blogs. Creating notes on social sites such as Facebook like my friend Vadim Dambreville did on Facebook about important topics to consumers. Some great topics to I suggest for someone just developing their online Marketing Skills are: how to stay safe on the internet "Simple things to remember to trip up the Tripster",
blogs about things that are funny or interesting, "Just for Fun"  or simply talking about things of interest to you such as: "Life is Good."  Adding a blog to your business site so that your fans can easily follow important things about the business and the people that are important to it is another great Marketing Skill that helps build relationships.

Marketing Skills
I have learned, in the Marketing Survival Skills program I belong to, there is only one simple thing to remember if you are to be successful with building relationships and that is the rule of giving 95% value (content that is important to the customer) and 5% take, (posting a call to action such as a link to the business website.) This is a passive way of putting the customer in control of opting to see what you have to offer. And being in control is something that everyone wants. Giving value can take a little longer than spamming but is much more effective in the long run.

In Conclusion:

Marketing Skills that help you build your business through building relationships may take a little longer but once you establish yourself and your purpose in the lives of your target audience, the rewards make it more than worth the time and effort. People will appreciate your efforts and in turn spread the word to others, before long you will find your business is exploding and taking on a life of its own. So the next time you hear someone say "It's all in the numbers, spam your market to reach the masses!" ask them "So how's that going for you?" Then start using those fine tuned Marketing Skills to begin building a relationship with them and soon they too will be asking you what you are doing too.

Because 5/05/11 was National Cancer Survivor Day

I found this online and felt it was worthy to post on my blog on this National Cancer Survivor Day, May it speak to you about life and about what all cancer survivors already know:
Life is not a race
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over

The author is unknown and the date was not applied so if you know who wrote it please share.

Slow Dance

This is a poem was said to be written by a teenager with cancer

She wants to see how many people “get” her poem
It is quite the poem please pass it on
It says she was a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital
And It was sent by a medical doctor

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun in the fading light

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last

Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask how are you?
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste
Not seen his
Sorrow?

Ever lost touch
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say “Hi”

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half of the fun of getting there
When you worry and hurry through your day
It’s like an unopened gift
Thrown away

Life is not a race
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over

*****************

I don’t know who really wrote this but the poem has an important message and I feel it is worth sharing with you.

Every day young children have been told by a doctor they have cancer or are fighting this ugly monster and I imagine if you asked them they would tell you:

Live life to its fullest,  Slow down,  Hear the music, Before the song is over.
