WHERE IS YOUR FOCUS? Or are you Curious George or Annie?

Ever notice how some people just always seem to be "up" and "happy" LikeAnnie and her song "Tomorrow" and others seem to be living the life of "Curious George" the monkey or "Dennis the Menace" always having good intentions but somehow things just seemed to fall apart around them?

I was more like Curious George or Dennis the Menace myself, there always was something good and something bad going on in my life. Until one day When I noticed a man, that I knew to be a fairly "up" person, had a really serious and painful health condition. Yet I couldn't remember ever hearing him say anything about it.

Well this got my attention. I began looking around and I noticing that people used phrases like "My feet are killing me" and "You know that kind of lifestyle isn't for people like us" (meaning the lower class, living a higher class lifestyle) like they were facts that they should just accept.

I also noticed the ones who seemed happiest appeared to be so by choice. They had every reason to complain and be unhappy but they chose not to. They didn't ignore the negative, they just simply chose to focuson the positive.
Well I knew about "the power of positive thinking", "the have faith and believe" from the bible and had heard all the "laws of attraction" talk going around, but it just didn't "click."

Then one day the key jumped out and grabbed me and it changed and is still changing my life:

" ITS NOT ABOUT THE GOOD OR THE BAD, WE ALL HAVE THOSE THINGS, ITS ABOUT WHERE YOUR FOCUS IS."

I started to do all the usual "positive thinking" stuff to change Where my focus was. BUT what really helped the most was something a dear friend tried for many years to show me:

Simply make a decision to emphasize in my daily talk, all the good things that happened in my life. If someone asks you about something negative, "yea that is there, BUT did you know...." By doing this you put the emphasis and focus on the positive.

Its been two years now and I don't just "see the light at the end of the tunnel" I can feel its warmth. And my answer to where is my focus? I do believe: "Yes anything is possible to them that believe." is my new cliche and I am singing
Annie's song "Tomorrow" all the time.

How about you? Where is your focus today?

Christmas Gifts

12/26/2010

One thing I have come to realize in my life is that an occasional lean Christmas is better. In fact the Christmases I remember the most in my life are the ones where money was not bountiful.

I remember things like laughing as we played games or watched a funny movie. Laughing as my daughter wrestled her brother to the floor, one more time, just to make him declare that Girls Rule! Although I secretly suspect that last time, he let her win. I remember the joy of opening a gift that wasn't very expensive but was the greatest gift you got because you knew the sacrifices made to give it to you.

It is with this in mind that I gave myself the gift of a lean Christmas this year. Sure I would have loved spending time with loved ones, opening and giving gifts is awesome too! Lights and Christmas decorations are my favorite tangible things about Christmas. This year however, I decided that for me, less was best and I was right. My gifts this year were far greater than I could have imagined.

This is a list of a few things I received:
The gift of Hope: Hope for tomorrow and promise for the future. This allows me to be able to stand in the midst of the battle. To find joy in the simple things and to dream of the future. Hope gives me reason to take action today to make things better for tomorrow.
The promise gift: The promise of the future found in the knowledge of what Jesus came to do for me and for all of mankind. To show me the way to go, both here in this life and in the eternal life yet to come. This promise fills me with joy. Joy that carries me through the trials and struggles of life.

The final gift I wish to mention:This gift is perhaps the most important and that is the gift of love.
This gift came when Jesus was born, even though I did not exist in this world yet and it was so strong it has been carried on all the way till now. So that today I would know I was loved and that is the greatest gift of all. This gift manifested itself in many ways. From the wonderful chat with someone very dear to my heart to phone calls with loved ones. The snow on the ground, a symbol of purity covering that which is not. To the reminder of Christ's love for me, a love so strong that he chose to shed His perfect blood to cover my not so perfect self.

Sure I learned how to set up Netflix and watched movies all day, parades on my internet tv, I rejoiced with others and sang Christmas songs. Jesus didn't have to come as a baby to tell me what to do. He could have done that as the omni-present Holy Creator. Jesus chose to come here as a babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, laid in a manager. He chose this so He could live life as we do, experience what we do and see what we see. Then He used it to shine the light on the way.

Yes, it was a great Christmas to go lean.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS?

12/24/2010

I just love this time of year with its Beautiful lights and lovely decorations, bringing smiles of  delight to the young and old alike. Wonderful picturesque scenes of snow on the ground with trees that sparkle like diamonds in its wake. More importantly though are the changes in the human race as a whole. Everywhere, in Every country, city or remote countryside people are celebrating something. Smiling, laughing and singing, putting aside their differences in the spirit of the season.

The holiday season brings a time of many celebrations too. The main one in my life is Christmas, the day we set aside to celebrate the birth of the babe Jesus, fulfilling scripture and the hope of new life, eternal that it brings. Many others celebrate the wonderful miracles of hope that Jesus brought but in different ways with different understanding. Still others celebrate the spirit of giving and love. Then of course you have the New Year. It may fall on different days but the whole world celebrates it at one time or another.

It is with this understanding that I say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. It allows me to keep Christ in the center of my reason and to respectfully acknowledge the God Given Right of Free Choice that everyone is entitled to.
One last thing to remember: To Catch a humming bird you need honeysuckle, To teach a student you must first gain their respect. To share God's love for all mankind. you must be willing to show it. Jesus never forced someone to accept Him, why are we trying to do it?

Let's start today and declare your love for Jesus, celebrating His birth by respecting the right of choice in others and turn the tide of dissension that has caused so much tension and say:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

If You Can Dream It....Note of the Day

12/18/2010

“If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
Never forget this whole thing started with a mouse.”
– Walt Disney

Do you dream of the day your dreams will come true but haven't seen it happen yet?  Are you actively pursuing them, having a goal and a plan in place?

What if Walt Disney had said, its only a cute kids story about a mouse, spending the rest of his life just dreaming about it, never taking action to bring him alive?

What If: Thomas Edison had let the "mind set" of others convince him that the phonograph was an unachievable dream and he spent the days of his life just dreaming "what if"?

Billy Cox, Author of  "The Dream Book" says:

"A dream is a picture that is burned into your heart.
I believe everyone has a dream. Some people are constantly dreaming. They wake up early, eager to get to
work on their dreams, and go to bed late, dreaming about the future. Yet, many people tell me, “I don’t have
a dream.” But I guarantee you they once did. Somewhere along the way, they lost their dream. Maybe it was
lost or imprisoned to circumstances. Or perhaps they’ve become frustrated because, despite their hard work,
their dream still seems elusive."

Revive your dreams today!
Sit down right now and think about what your dream is and what you are willing to do to achieve it.
You have to take action to make your dreams come true.
As Walt Disney said: "Remember if you can dream it you can achieve it"

NETWORK MARKETING & BEST FRIENDS

12/16/2010

Just a random thought I felt like sharing: Network Marketing opportunities are a lot like best friends: Everyone has a best friend, Not everyone is your best friend.

There are plenty of great opportunities out there offering everyone the opportunity to make an extra income. They all say they are the best and their all happy to help you, or so they say.

There are many reasons that people don't succeed in network marketing one of those chief reasons is that people lack the understanding and training on how the cyber-world operates. Another reason is that it just isn't a good fit.

How do you know if its a good fit?
Does it make you excited when you talk about it?
Example: do you believe in the products/services and just go on and on
Can you talk about it in casual conversation, without sounding forced?
Example: Does it sound like your talking about your best friend or like your being flogged with a whip
Do you have the desire, the time and the vision to see you as a success with it? This last one is self explanatory

And finally:

Do they offer training in a manner that you can relate too?
This last one is a huge key that most people miss. If You are a hands on, walk mestep by step learner, Then a grand meeting every week full of "Fluff" Forever, Lifting, Up, Famous, Friends, where all you hear is great testimonies of success with occasional tidbits of learning, is not for you. This type of program demands you learn from their website on your own.

You need a program that will offer you step by step video instructions with a person SHOWING you how to do it. Written scripts for those who prefer to read and Live over the shoulder "OTS" training where you actually follow along AS they work the business.

Now that you know how to: go sort through what you have and ask yourself is this the Best Friend Network Marketing program for me.
Oh and one more thing:
ALWAYS REMEMBER: Professionals sort, Amateurs convince

What American means to Me

12/15/2010

By Jonothan Tissue, Kaplan University, Discussion board for Unit 5

Communicating in a Diverse Culture

"I just consider myself American. American to me means a free spirit (I guess you can call that freedom), arrogance, and enjoying the benefits of big government and big business at the same time being suspicious of government and frowning on evils of big business.  It means having access to education but having displeasure over the quality of it (I of course am not talking about Kaplan).  It means being entertained by reality television and dreaming of becoming famous on Dancing with the Stars or American Idol. American means I can change tomorrow if I don’t like who I am today.
I like that. "

The Above is a quote, a student in my Diversity class wrote. He was answering a question in which we were asked to describe briefly our culture and ethnicity and how it relates to us and what we believe and identify with. This is an excerpt of his post that I thought to be a great description and wanted to share.

The Night Before Christmas by a Soldier

12/15/2010

T'was the night before Christmas, He lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house, Made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney, With presents to give,
And to see just whom, In this home did live.
I looked all about, A strange sight I did see.
No tinsel, no presents, Not even a tree.
No stocking by the mantle, Just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures, of far distant lands.
With medals and badges, Awards of all kinds,

A sober thought came through my mind.
For this house was different. It was dark and dreary.
I found the home of a soldier, at once I could see clearly.
The soldier lay sleeping, Silent, alone,
curled up on the floor, In this one bedroom home.

The face was so gentle, The room in such disorder,
Not how I pictured, A veteran soldier.
Was this the hero, Of whom I'd just read?,
Curled up on a poncho, The floor for a bed?
I realized the families, That I saw this night,
Owed their lives to these soldiers, Who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world, The children would play,
And grownups would celebrate, A bright Christmas Day.
They all enjoyed freedom, Each month of the year,
Because of the soldiers, Like the one lying here.
I couldn't help wonder, How many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas Eve, In a land far from home.

The very thought brought A tear to my eye,

I dropped to my knees, And started to cry.
The soldier awakened, And I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry. This life is my choice.
I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more,
My life is my God, My country, my corps."
The soldier rolled over, And drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours,  So silent and still,

And we both shivered, From the cold night's chill.
I didn't want to leave, On that cold, dark night,
This guardian of honor, So willing to fight.

Then the soldier rolled over, With a voice, soft and pure,

Whispered, "Carry on Santa, It's Christmas Day, all is secure."
One look at my watch, And I knew he was right,

"Merry Christmas my friend, And to all a good night."

This poem was written by a peace keeping soldier stationed overseas.
The following is his request, I think it is reasonable,
PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit
is due to our service men and women for our being able to celebrate
these Festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what
we owe. Make People stop and think of our heroes, living and dead,
who sacrificed themselves for us.

Do You Want To Win?
by
Kat Cooley on Friday, 10 December 2010 at 17:59

Are you in the G.A.M.E to Win?

I listened to a Billy Cox audio yesterday and can think of nothing more important to share with others than this audio on How to Win. The following are a few excerpts that really stood out:

Goals, Attitude, Motivation, Excellence

"Are you prepared to go out and create Wins for yourself and your family? You have everything you need you just have to be willing to pay the price and be willing to do it. To have the best year ever you have to decide what you want! "

Winning is fun

Stop living in the land of "good enough" Its time to move to the next level.

So what if you had a problem in the past! Get a new life, Today is the first day of forever, A new beginning for you.

Billy Cox did say on the site that he wanted us to share his audio.  The preceding were a few notes I took that really stood out. Most of this is taken directly from the Audio so I claim No Copyrights to it, they all go to Billy Cox.

Hold Onto Your Dreams

12/8/2010

HOLD ONTO YOUR DREAMS"

Keep all your dreams so close to your heart, and never give up, when your life's falling apart. Let your dreams give you strength to carry on, and help you find the future, you feel has gone.

Build on those dreams that you hold so dearly, and you'll be able to see, your life more clearly. These are your tomorrows you can make today, and through the darkness, you'll find your way.

Nothing is impossible, as long as you believe; those felt unreachable are possible to achieve. Have faith in yourself and trust in God's love; reach for the stars blessed by Heaven above.

Snow is really a beautiful thing

12/4/2010

Snow is Really a beautiful Thing.

It covers all that looks dreary in the winter months.

The trees and ground serve us well three seasons out of the year. They need their time of rest that winter brings.

Sure there are things about snow we all dislike, such as ice, slush, and cold winter nights.

That is true with any season at its best.

Spring brings torrential rains and March's strong winds, leaving us oft wanting of dryer times and electricity.

Hot sleepless nights and even HOTTER summer days, driving us into the AC and taking away our harvests.

Raking chores in the autumn months and lets not forget the hurricanes.

Its plain to me as icicles on a tree, that the beauty of snow is there for you and me, just as the new life of spring, the longer days of summer and the vibrant colors of Autumn.

You just have to open your hearts and minds to see it. So trade the shovel for someone's hand and go make some sweet snow filled memories tonight.

Kathleen
