An AHA Moment in Life

_An AHA Moment in life
Picture
_Standing outside my vehicle this morning covered in snow snow, that was not supposed to be there according to every weather service I might add, I had a sudden funny AHA moment. You know, the kind where all the things fighting for your attention over a set period of time finally set in, adding up to the clearest AHA Moment you have had in awhile?  Yea that’s right, that moment where life “Gibbs” smacks you on the back of the head and says “Hey you! Wake up!”  That is the kind of thing that happened to me today.

My AHA Moment

Picture
_ My AHA Moment came when I casually reached inside my blazer, popped the keys in the ignition and without giving it a second thought, decided to turn on the wipers to see if that was “just snow” that could be wiped off with the wipers or if it was ice and I would have to spend 10 minutes scraping it. Yeah, I know some of you are already laughing at me. And you should be, it was snow and my beloved blazer promptly and neatly dumped the contents of the window squarely on me, wet hair and all! “I guess it was snow” I chuckled as I brushed the snow off me and into the door pocket, clearly not thinking my actions through again.

Why was it an AHA Moment?

Picture
_  Alright, alright…now that you have had a good chuckle let me explain why it is an AHA Moment, and since I am a marketer online, how does it apply?

Recently I have been sifting through things in my boxes and eliminating or attempting to reduce the clutter. I have also reviewed my expenses versus income for my business. The one thing I kept seeing over and over was the “little things” and the increase they caused in the big picture of my life. Even though I got rid of a lot of little things and reduced the “clutter” in my financial affairs, the impact these things had didn't really sink in till I had my AHA Moment this morning. I bet you think I am going to say how important it is to give thought to what you are doing don’t you?

As true as that fact is, I think I unknowingly like creating little episodes like this morning, its what makes my life interesting, not to mention all the life lessons I get that way. I don’t know why I didn’t see it before but I clearly did this morning.
The thing that stuck out in my mind was just how much the impact of one little thing or just a few bucks could really have on the “big picture”. All those notes from a class or magazines I didn’t even know I had, really took up a lot of space. Likewise all the advertising, list building and “new business” launches that are “$5 dollars here” and “$10 bucks there” or “just the $2 bucks is all you need” really start to add up over time.Let’s stop and think for a moment…5 x 12 months is $60, doesn’t seem like much but up it to $10 x12 and now you are breaking into the three digits. Now if you have 3 programs that are $2, $5, & $10 a month over the course of a year and now you’re talking $204 a year.

The Truth is Many of us have Many "little" Things that cost

Picture
_ Now I know everyone needs advertising and we should expect to pay something for the good ones. BUT if that $5.00 isn’t reproducing an increase in sales, an affiliate income, or otherwise regularly contributing to the increase in your affairs in a positive way….Well Guess What?
It’s time for your AHA Moment!
Get set to clean house darling, the extra money, time, and energy that you invest into businesses/advertising/list building, home life that don’t pay back regularly or give you something in your life, can be wisely dispersed into other areas that do contribute to achieving your dream lifestyle and that of your family.

Picture
_ I know, I know you think it’s all about the list and how big you can get it, or what if I need that someday….Here is a gentle tap on your skull for you.  A big list is great, BUT IT DOES YOU NO GOOD IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING TURNOVERS INTO YOUR BUSINESS.
So bite that pack rat, run it off and start unloading. I heard a good rule of thumb the other day: Ask yourself what you would take with you if you had an emergency and could only take what you could carry? The answers are what matters to you. (and don’t say your game console, that can be replaced) the same thing can be said of your business matters: If you had to choose between all of the things you have your “hands” in, which ones would you absolutely have to have?  Get rid of the rest and focus on the best!  It will pay off in the end.
